Award of Charter on 1st March, 2013 by His Excellency Hon. Mwai Kibaki

South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) is a fully- fledged University which was  awarded  a Charter on 1st March, 2013 by immediate former President of Hon. Mwai Kibaki.The University has already established 11 Schools offering many Certificates, Diplomas, Degree and Masters programmes in line with its core mandate.  The University has also embarked on massive infrastructure development to support its teaching and learning.  Some of these projects have been completed and others are in progress.The University is on the right path of becoming a centre of excellence in teaching, research and community service.The student population is expected to reach 10,000 in the next 6 years. The University is laying the necessary foundation to ensure quality teaching, learning, research and community service are catered for in its expansion  programmme.

RESUMPTION OF STUDIES FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS
South Eastern Kenya University  (SEKU) wishes to inform continuing students at the main campus as follows: 
1. First Year Undergraduate Students(Group 1/2011)
i) Completion of 2nd  Semester 2012/2013           
29th April 2013     - Reporting and Registration          
30th April -14th June 2013 - Lectures and Examinations
ii) 2nd year of study (1st semester)      - 17th June - 20th September 2013
iii) 2nd year of study (2nd semester)     - 23rd September - 27th December 2013
2.Second Year Undergraduate Students(Group 2011)
i) Completion of 2nd Semester 2012/2013         
 29th April 2013  - Reporting and Registration          
30th April -14th June 2013  - Lectures and Examinations
ii) Third year of study(1st Semester)  - 17th June-20th September 2013

CONDITIONS TO RE-ADMISSION
This is to remind the continuing students that, Information on condition for readmission has been sent to the respective addresses that were provided on the day of registration.

SEKU And Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International Sign Pact

South Eastern Kenya University(SEKU) has signed a general collaborative Memorandum Of Understanding with the Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation. The joint research training and community outreach would see the Department of Dry Land Agriculture conduct research and provide baseline data aimed at improving nutrition and increasing household income in three divisions within Kitui and Makueni Counties.

Emphasizing on Research

Capacity building, exchange of staff, mutual visits, sharing of equipment and physical facilities, agricultural research and technology development are some of the areas that SEKU and KARI have agreed to collaborate in their recently signed MOU. Under the agreement, there will be opportunities for mutual research, student attachments, joint seminars and workshops, joint technology development, dissemination and fabrication of tools and equipment.

This MOU further cements the resolve by SEKU to fulfill its mandate in pursuing higher education and technology in the fields of agriculture including even agricultural resource management and agribusiness development.
