In order to provide effective user centered, friendly and quality service to our users South Eastern Kenya University(SEKU) Library has been divided into various sections that help give personalized services to the users; the sections cater for specific needs that the users may have, these sections are as follows;
All registered members may borrow materials from here subject to the lending regulations indicated in the rules and regulations.
This is a service section, which deals with the reader’s services. The circulation department can also be viewed as the library ‘mirror’ because it is the point at which the image of the library is portrayed. All library tasks and efforts are finally delivered to the intended users through the circulation department.
This section of the library is charged with the following duties and responsibilities: Registration of library users, orientation of new users and visitors, issuing, receiving of books and other information materials including periodicals, and generation of user statistics.
Because of the rapid growth and developments in information and communication technologies, the library has set aside a unit to facilitate acquisition, and application of modern technologies in sourcing and delivery of digital and electronic information. The Library has a collection of CD-ROMs and other digital materials.
As the Library continues to strengthen its ICT base in all its operations, the unit will also provides information literacy in the form of assisting new users to access e-resources and acquit them with the use of computers. To this end an e-resource room is being re-furbished and equipped with modern equipment.
This is a section of the library that is charged with the duties and responsibilities of acquiring information materials and processing them. The section liaises with other academic departments in the acquisition of information materials.
