The University inaugurated the first Chancellor on 15th June 2013 during a colourfull ceremony attended by prominent people . Dr. Titus Naikuni is now the Chancellor of SEKU. South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) is a fully- fledged University which was awarded a Charter on 1st March, 2013 by immediate former President of Kenya Hon. The University has also embarked on massive infrastructure development to support its teaching and learning Some of these projects have been completed and others are in progress.The University is on the right path of becoming a centre of excellence in teaching, research and community service.The student population is expected to reach 10,000 in the next 6 years. The University is laying the necessary foundation to ensure quality teaching, learning, research and community service are catered for in its expansion programmme.
