Circulation/ Reference Services
This service is found at the circulation desk or loans desk, usually found near the main entrance of the library. It provides lending services and facilities for return of loaned items. Renewal of materials and payment of fines are also handled at the circulation desk. Circulation staff will provide basic search and reference services. The library provides general information services to all customers.

Training and Orientation services
Orientation is “primarily concerned with ways of introducing the user to the general techniques of library usage and services available, and the organization, layout and facilities of a particular library Library orientation or user orientation towards the library has to do with adjusting the new library user to the library.
Library orientation makes library users aware of the library and the services it offers. Library orientation educates people regarding general use of the library, e g when the library is open, where specific items can be found, how to obtain the library material you need, etc.
The Library has computers specifically meant for research and accessing library material. Searching and retrieval of academic material is free.
Photocopying and printing services
Library offers printing and photocopying services to students and staff at a fee. Copying must not infringe copyright laws and users will be required to sign a declaration to this effect
Technical services involve the following:
- Collection development section in liaison with academic staff and library members
- Processing which involves classification, cataloguing of library materials for easy retrieval.
The library subscribes to e-books and e- journals which can be accessed from all university computer labs and laptops through the wireless connectivity.
Using other libraries
The United Nations Library at Gigiri Nairobi is open to all South Eastern Kenya University(SEKU) Library members. Only before you visit the library kindly notify the librarian to know when you intend to visit in order to facilitate your pass at the security check.
