The new leaders, who were elected in November last year, pledged to champion the welfare of the students in key areas such as accommodation, transport and among others. The Chairman, Mr. Mwangi, said his team will work with the Management to ensure that various challenges that, he said, “have persisted with us are dealt with once and for all.
“I will work to ensure that the comrades live a dignified life befitting the elite in society that they are,” said the chairman. In his address to the staff and students during the inauguration, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Geoffrey Muluvi, urged the new student leaders to embrace dialogue and negotiation in articulating issue affecting the student community in SEKU.
“In a large community like our, disagreement are inevitable; what matters is how we tackle and resolve tour issues. I prescribe dialogue and negotiation as the means of first and last resort. Moreover, none of us can singlehandedly achieve our icollective goals; I As student-leaders, I invite you to work with the Management, staff and your fellow students in advancing your cause,” said the VC.
Prof. Muluvi paid glowing tribute to the outgoing council, saying that the University achieved a lot during their tenure as a result of the good working relations the team had forged with the management.
