The attention of the University Management has been drawn to a bogus circular in the social media, ostensibly originating from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, purporting to give direction to students on the opening date and conduct of their studies and examinations.
The fake circular, which bears a forged signature of the Vice-Chancellor, purports, among other things, to inform students that the current semester was supposed to start on 2nd January 2017 and that the minimum class attendance is 100 percent.
We wish to clarify that this circular, together with the information therein, is fake and has not emanated from the Vice-Chancellor or any other authorized officer of the University and should be treated as such by the student community to which it was addressed.
We wish to inform the student that, as communicated to them in December 2016 before close of last, semester, this semester opens today, Monday, 9th January 2017. Further, the conduct of examinations and studies in general are well documented in the relevant publications and circular of the University and the information contained in the aforementioned fake circular is false and has no relevance whatsoever.
We further wish to inform the student Community that investigations have been launched to establish the author of this malicious information and appropriate action, which may include prosecution and expulsion, will be taken against the culprit or culprits once identified.
Finally, all students are hereby advised to be checking the University Website to confirm the authenticity of circulars.
