University Funding

South Eastern Kenya University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eng. Douglas Shitanda together with other Vice Chancellors from Public Universitis in Kenya attended a meeting held at the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA), Karen, Nairobi.

.The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Dr. ݐ鰝ர퐥ݐⰝர퐬 ݐ찝ࢰ퐠ݐ谝ଠݐ࠰퐚ݐ氝۰퐚, accompanied by the PS for Higher Education, Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala, held a consultative meeting with Vice-Chancellors of public universities, the HELB CEO, Mr. Geoffrey Monari, and the acting CEO of the Universities Fund, Mr. Edwin Wanyonyi.

The meeting focused on sustainable financing solutions for higher education because Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Education, has a serious intent to reform, rescue, and revitalize Kenyan public universities.
Public-private partnerships (PPPs), Endowment Funds, Income-generating University Ventures, and International Collaborations are approaches essential for the long-term stability, quality output and autonomy of public universities.
