The National Values and Principles of Governance in Article 10 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, epitomize the core beliefs and normative standards that steer the conduct of individuals and the functioning of institutions within Kenya. At South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), these values are not just lofty ideals, but they are integrated principles that inform every aspect of the University’s operations. By embedding these values into its mandate, SEKU not only fulfills its constitutional obligations, but it also actively contributes to fostering a just and equitable society while tackling societal challenges sustainably.
To ensure the seamless integration of these values into its mandate, SEKU has established a dedicated Cohesion and National Values Mainstreaming Unit. This Unit plays a pivotal role in coordinating training sessions and sensitization programmes, identifying the government’s commitments aligned with SEKU's mission, and advising the University Management on matters pertaining to national cohesion and values promotion. Moreover, it diligently prepares and submits Annual President's Reports that showcase the measures taken and progress achieved in realizing these values.
By embodying National values and Principles of Governance in its actions, SEKU contributes significantly to the collective aspiration of building a stronger, more cohesive nation.
