The Vice-Chancellor of South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), Prof. Eng. Douglas Shitanda, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering innovation and digital transformation by donating four desktop computers to the Innovation Centre at SEKU’s Kitui Campus.
Prof. Shitanda formally presented the computers to the Director of ICT, Mr. Kim Musila. The ICT Directorate will ensure the machines are delivered and installed at the Kitui Campus Innovation Centre, where they will support students, innovators, and researchers in advancing their projects.
Speaking during the handover, Prof. Shitanda emphasized the University’s vision to nurture creativity, technological skills, and research among students. He noted that access to digital tools is essential for enhancing problem-solving and equipping learners with the competencies needed to thrive in today’s fast-changing world.
Mr. Musila expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the donation, noting that the new equipment will significantly strengthen ICT capacity at the Innovation Centre. He further assured that the computers will be put to optimal use to benefit the University community, especially students engaged in innovation and technology-based initiatives.
The establishment of the Kitui Campus Innovation Centre is part of SEKU’s strategic plan to provide platforms that encourage idea generation, entrepreneurship, and community-driven solutions. The donation marks another milestone in the University’s ongoing efforts to integrate technology into teaching, research, and innovation.
