Kenya Nurse Consultant Limited is a Kenyan based company that collaborated with Remar NCLEX – RN and South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) to host NCLEX sensitization forum. It is founded and led by Mr. Paul Simiyu (Managing Director) based in United Kingdom. Kenya Nurse Consultant Limited has experts in Nursing education and is instrumental in preparing Nursing professionals to work oversees.
The sensitization forum was led by Prof. Regina Callion CEO and Founder of Remar NCLEX – RN. The objective of this sensitization forum was to provide comprehensive guidance, share effective study techniques and address any concerns related to NCLEX examinations in preparation for the international job market. The NCLEX examinations are administered monthly.
The Kenya Nurse Consultant Limited preparation process of nurses takes four (4) to six (6) months at a cost of not less than KE 150,000.00. Kenya Nurse Consultant Limited has offered to sponsor three (3) SEKU BSc Nursing graduands for the USA job market. The Kenya Nurse Consultant Limited and SEKU collaboration formalization is ongoing.

To ensure that only valid voters vote in the upcoming SEKUSA ECR and SGC elections, the following documents will be used for voter identification.

  1. SEKU Student Identity Card
  2. Both SEKU Student Identity Card and Kenyan National Identity Card in case of a defaced SEKU ID.
  3. Both Kenyan National Identity Card and Admission Letter for students without SEKUStudent ID.
  4. Both Admission Letter and certified colour Passport photo for students without National and SEKU ID. Certification can be done at SEKU Admissions Office.
  5. Both SEKU Student ID (Waiting) and National Identity Card.

Please note that voting for ECR elections will take place on Thursday, 24th October 2024 from 8:30am to 3:00pm, in Tuition Block 1 (TBH).

Seku Postgraduate Vonference 2024 2

South Eastern Kenya University is hosting its Fourth Postgraduate Conference from 16th to 18th October 2024, starting at 9.00 am each day. The conference has officially been opened today by the DVC CS Prof Francis Wachira, PhD. For Vice-Chancellor. The theme of the conference is “Innovation for Sustainable Development through Multidisciplinary Postgraduate Research.”
Renown research scientist, Prof. Trilok Kumar Jain (Ph.D. in Social Entrepreneurship), Dean of ISBM at Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur, India has graced the event.

Kenya India Innovation Nexus

South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) Vice-Chancellor prof. Eng. Douglas Shitanda had joined other Vice-Chancellors, members of parliament and KENIA staff for a 3 day visit to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, Telangana, INDIA.

The highlight of the 1st day was the formal signing of the Partnership Charter of the India-Kenya Innovation Nexus, which focuses on fostering meaningful connections between the Indian and Kenyan innovation ecosystems. The Nexus is designed to facilitate opportunities for cross-border startup growth, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives that will benefit both nations. On the first day of the visit, the Kenyan delegation participated in a series of engaging activities, beginning with a comprehensive tour of IIT Hyderabad’s Incubation Facilities, an overview of IIT Hyderabad, followed by insightful presentations on the innovation ecosystems of both countries sparking productive discussions on mutual collaboration opportunities.

On Day 2, the delegation engaged in key discussions surrounding technology commercialization, academic initiatives aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, and the critical role incubators play in supporting startups. The highlight of the day was the Joint Declaration of Membership to the India-Kenya Innovation Nexus by Indian and Kenyan universities, further cementing the partnership between the two nations.

Call for development of murals competition

South Eastern Kenya University through the Gender Mainstreaming Unit has received support from the Association of Common Wealth Universities (ACU) to implement a project on Engaging men staff and students to end sexual and gender-based violence in the South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) and beyond. One of the activities is to paint murals depicting how to stop sexual and gender-based violence and harassment in our universities. The murals will first be presented on a manila paper for ranking and the winner will be awarded. The best ranked mural will be painted on a wall at the gender corner. The Gender mainstreaming Unit is therefore calling on student artists to participate in this competition. Submissions together with contacts of the artist should be delivered to the Gender Mainstreaming Unit office by 25th October 2024. MR. Polly Kiande from AJIRA Digital with Prof. Harrison Maithya, PhD. DVC- Academic Research and Innovation( ARI) planning on how to carry out free training about AJIRA Digital to SEKU students. The objective of AJIRA Digital is to work through universities, and TVETS to fully operationalize the programme so that the Kenyan youth can access valuable training and to help 1 million Kenyan youth to earn a decent wage from digital and digitally enabled jobs.

 

The South eastern Kenya university (SEKU) undergoing an introductory training on contract farming methodology in collaboration with the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) Technology and Transfer Pact (TAP) With Africa Cooperation with the GIZ transferring promising innovations as part of the GIZ “ A world without hunger “ programme.
The training facilitator Mr. Edmond Ringo dealt with several issues among them; understanding the importance of contact farming, exploring CF and typologies and business models, integrating contract farming into academic curricula and coaching and implementation planning among others.

The academic attire will be issued to graduands from 28th to 29th October 2024, between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. at the respective Deans’/Campus Offices, upon producing a receipt of payment of the graduation fee as follows:

SEKU Vice Chancellor prof. Eng. Douglas Shetanda, DR. Benjamin Muli and SEKU students visit Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of applied sciences, Troisdorf, Germany.

They were received by Prof. Ralf Schlauderer who emphasized on the need to bridge the gap between Universities and the farmers. He also emphasized on the need to bridge the gap between Universities and the industry.

Prof. Schlauderer further explained why it was necessary for HSWT to collaborate with rural-based African Universities like SEKU and JOOUST. It was emphasized that the need for University rankings has pushed universities from the farmers and that there was an urgent need for Universities to go back to the farmers.

While in Germany, SEKU fraternity also met with the Kenyan ambassador to Germany ms. Orina who thanked the HSWT president for the continued collaboration with African Universities. She emphasized the need for mechanization to improve African Agriculture. The ambassador further reiterated that Agriculture was an important pillar for Kenya’s development and that the government was keen to have impactful partnerships.

The HSWT team had visited SEKU for a “Design Thinking” training to SEKU students from 17th-22nd September, 2024 at SEKU main campus.

South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) has officially given out the first cohort of 650 students to WOTE Campus.
The students were officially welcomed by Makueni Governor his Excellency Mutula Kilonzo Jrm who was the chief guest and the Vice Chancellor Prof. Eng. Douglas Shitanda into the county
The 650 students, second, third and fourth years from school of humanities and social sciences.
In his speech he has assured the students of their security by installing street lights from town to campus.
He promised that the county government will give the campus an extra 20000 acres of land to make it 48 acres in total and also help it to secure the tittle deed.
Governor mutual urged the students to utilize the innovation hub to nature their talents by recording their script for free adding that the internet connectivity is on the way coming and it will help the students to have easy time to study and do their research.
He encouraged students to refrain from use of drugs because drugs and praised local leaders who fought for the university.
The vice chancellor told the students to remain disciplined because they are still SEKU students and therefore the rules and regulations remain constant, learn how to communicate and assimilate and improve the area around them.
He added that the university is going to actively have communal engagements like how the community can make use of the library in order to help the university have an impact in the region.

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom is offering Ten (10) PhD and Nineteen (19) Masters full scholarships to Kenya citizens tenable in 2025. The awards are tenable at any approved UK University that hosts CSC awardees.

2. PhD Study

  1. Proof of Kenyan citizenship
  2. Master’s Degree from a recognized university with strong academic background
  3. Supporting statements from two (2) referees
  4. One supporting statement from a supervisor in a UK Institution
  5. A proposal in the area of study clearly showing the potential impact on the development of Kenya
  6. Quality Study Plan
  7. Should not be registered for a PhD, or an MPhil, leading to a PhD, at a UK university or in Kenya, before September/October 2025.
